Critter's Inflatable®

                                 Pet Life Jacket

Halkey-Roberts V85000 Inflator

Automatic Inflation Mode:

1. Unscrew and inspect the CO2 cylinder. If used or damaged, discard the CO2 cylinder.

2. If the Critter's Inflatable® Pet life jacket was previously set for automatic mode, skip steps 3 and 4, and go to step 5.

3. Remove the yellow Manual Cap from the base of the inflator, and store it in a safe place for future use. Recommend that you stow this yellow Manual Cap on your boat for quick and easy access if you need to use it.

4. Locate the Clear Cap (it is the cap with clear plastic with the red/green indicator and spring) and inspect it to ensure it is clean and dry. If the inside of this cap is wet, it could damage the Bobbin and cause unwanted inflation. Skip to step 6.

5. Unscrew and remove the Clear Cap and remove and discard the fired or damaged Bobbin. If necessary, rinse the inside of the inflator base and the Clear Cap with fresh water to remove dirt and salt. Let dry before going to step 6.

6. Install an unfired Bobbin into the base of the inflator. Note, there are groves on the outer edge of the Bobbin so that it can only be put in the correct way.

7. Install the Clear Cap on the base of the inflator and hand-tighten. If the day-glow red spring (indicator) is exposed, the Bobbin has been fired or is damaged, or the Clear Cap is incorrectly threaded (correct before going to step 8).

8. Check the manual lever to ensure it is in the up and ready position with the green indicator pin or clip properly installed. If the green indicator pin or clip is missing or  damaged, replace it (note, the inflator system will function properly even when the green pin or clip is missing). The purpose of the green pin or clip is to help indicate to the owner that the manual lanyard has not been pulled since the last time the inflator was serviced.

9. Install an unused CO2 cylinder by screwing it into the top of the inflator and hand-tighten. Do not over tighten as this can damage the internal gasket.

10. Refold the Critter's Inflatable® Pet life jacket in accordance with the repacking instructions in this manual.

YOUR Inflatable Pet Life Jacket IS NOW

READY FOR AUTOMATIC USE

Figure showing red and green status indicators which in turn indicate if the automatic inflation system is properly armed or not.

Example A – show the inflator fully armed and READY for use because (1) the green indicator (pin or clip) is installed, (2) the lever arm is in the locked position, and (3) the automatic cap is installed with a green indicator shown (which means a good bobbin is installed).  Even through all the indicators are OK, it is wise periodically to unscrew and check the CO2 cylinder to make sure that it was replaced with a good cylinder the last time the life jacket was serviced.

Example B – shows the inflator NOT READY for use, because (1) the lever arm is not in the locked position which indicates that the CO2 cylinder is already used (prior manual CO2 inflation) and the green indicator pin or clip did not eject as it should have during inflation, or (2) the green indicator (pin or clip) was not installed properly.  Rearm the inflator for either Automatic or Manual inflation mode (see instructions).

Example C – shows the inflator NOT READY for use because the red semi-circle is exposed, and the lever arm are not in the locked position which indicates that the CO2 cylinder is already used (prior manual CO2 inflation).  Rearm the inflator for either Automatic or Manual inflation mode (see instructions).

Example D – shows the inflator NOT READY for use because the red indicator on the automatic cap which indicates that the CO2 cylinder and bobbin are already used (prior automatic CO2 inflation).  Rearm the inflator for either Automatic or Manual inflation mode (see instructions).
