Critter's Inflatable®

                                 Pet Life Jacket

Manual Inflation:

1. Unscrew and inspect the CO2 cylinder. If used or damaged, discard the CO2 cylinder.

2. If the Critter's Inflatable® Pet life jacket was previously set for manual mode, skip steps 3, 4 and 5, and go to step 6.

3. Unscrew and remove the Clear Cap (see step 5 for storage).

4. Remove and inspect the Bobbin. If the Bobbin is used, damaged, or 12 months old, discard it. If the Bobbin is still in good condition, store the Bobbin and the Clear Cap together in a cool dry area for future use. Recommend you stow the Bobbin and Clear Cap on your boat for quick and easy access if you need to use them.

5. If you have a yellow Manual Cap install it on the base of the inflator and hand-tighten. Note: while not required the manual cap will provide additional protection to the inflator cap threads and to keep the inside of the inflator clean.

6. Check the manual lever to ensure it is in the up and ready position with the green indicator pin or clip properly installed. If the green indicator pin or clip is missing or damaged, replace it (note, the inflator system will function properly even when the green pin or clip is missing). The purpose of the green pin or clip is to help indicate to the owner that the manual lanyard has not been pulled since the last time the inflator was serviced.

7. Install an unused CO2 cylinder by screwing it into the top of the inflator and hand-tighten. Do not over tighten as this can damage the internal gasket.

8. Refold the Critter's Inflatable ® Pet life jacket in accordance with the repacking instructions in this manual.

YOUR INFLATABLE PET LIFE JACKET IS NOW

READY FOR MANUAL USE

Figure showing red and green status indicators which in turn indicate if the manual inflation system is properly armed or not.

Example E – show the inflator fully armed and READY for use because (1) the green indicator (pin or clip) is installed, (2) the lever arm is in the locked position, and (3) the yellow manual cap is installed.  Even through all the indicators are OK, it is wise periodically to unscrew and check the CO2 cylinder to make ensure that it was replaced with a good cylinder the last time the life jacket was serviced.

Example F – shows the inflator NOT READY for use, because (1) The red semi-circle indicator is exposed, and (2) the lever arm is not in the locked position which indicates that the CO2 cylinder is already used (prior manual CO2 inflation).  Rearm the inflator for either Automatic or Manual inflation mode (see instructions).

Example G – shows the inflator NOT READY for use, because (1) the lever arm is not in the locked position which indicates that the CO2 cylinder is already used (prior manual CO2 inflation) and the green indicator pin or clip did not eject as it should have during inflation, or (2) the green indicator (pin or clip) was not installed properly.  Rearm the inflator for either Automatic or Manual inflation mode (see instructions).

Example H – shows the inflator NOT READY for use because (1) the yellow manual cap is missing which could indicate that the CO2 cylinder is already used (prior automatic CO2 inflation and the automatic cap and bobbin were removed but the system not rearmed with new cylinder).  Rearm the inflator for either Automatic or Manual inflation mode (see instructions).  While the inflation system will function in the manual inflation mode without the yellow cap being installed, the threads on the lower section of the inflator would be exposed and could cause damage to the inflation chamber.
